                                       WAR PAINT HORSE RANCH

Dedicated equestrians insist that the most beautiful countryside is seen between the ears of a horse, and Louis Dawson of WAR PAINT HORSE RANCH couldn't agree more.  Dawson offers guided horseback rides through the lush pine forests, cool streams and rugged mountains near picturesque Lake Eufaula.  A 10-mile trip takes about five hours, and guests appreciate the cool drinks and outhouse facilities that Dawson provides at rest stops.  Riders ordinarily bring their own mounts, but Dawson has a few kid-friendly horses to rent.  A horse hotel assures that you and your horse trailer or RV will have plenty of space to park, and you and your horse will have a stable for the night.  Trail rides take place from March through October, although Dawson organizes rides for fundraising at other times.

In June 2007, the Highway 9 East Merchants Association, of which Dawson is a member, put together the 10-Mile Yard Sale.  The giant flea market also featured horse and pony rides, where kids could have their pictures taken with the horses.  That evening folks relaxed after a long day of bargain hunting at the ranch.  Dawson hosted a concert featuring country music singer and fiddle player, Pake McEntire, brother of Reba and an authentic cowboy.  Another such concert is in the plans.  Louis is also planning a series of "HORSE CAMPS" beginning in March 2007.  Check back on this page for dates and times.

If you're looking to leisurely explore beautiful country that you can't see from the highway, call Louis Dawson at WAR PAINT HORSE RANCH, and get ready to RIDE!!
